Peer Pedagogy

In project-based science classrooms we studied apprenticeship learning. We revealed how student community was defined not only by rich and meaningful practices but also by the ways student participants socialized one another into those practices. We found that apprenticeship did occur in this classroom community. However, as with adult apprenticeships, there were more and less successful ways of bringing newcomers from peripheral to full participation.
